One question at a time
What do I upload?
Monthly trial balances - one file per month, or one file with a period column. That alone gives the cost structure, the KPI diagnostic and, from three months, the run rate. Add the budget and you get the variance bridge. Add the operational numbers your industry measures and the variance splits into price, volume and mix. Every file you do not add is named in the run as a figure NOT AVAILABLE, with the file that would supply it.
What comes back?
The board pack: one page a board reads, with the headline, the bridge, the statements and the decisions. Its appendix, with every working. The workbook, whose subtotals are live formulas. A mapping review listing every account, where it was placed and why, biggest money first. And the list of everything the run could not produce.
What if a number cannot be derived?
It says NOT AVAILABLE, with the reason and the file that would supply it. Never zero, never a default. Where a figure is substituted from an industry default - a seasonality index, an elasticity - it is labelled ASSUMED with its source, and replaced automatically the moment your own history can supply it.
What if the run stops?
It tells you why in one sentence - the file, the row, the column and the problem - or asks the one question only you can answer: which duplicate wins, which currency, whether balances are period or year-to-date. You answer in a small file called intake.yaml and upload again. A stopped run costs you nothing.
How are the decisions chosen?
From a library of actions the engine may raise, each with the condition that raises it. At most five, ranked by impact against effort, each with an owner, the assumption it rests on and a 90-day test. They are written to a ledger and measured afterwards, so the next pack says what the last decisions delivered.
Which industries?
The engine is the same for every industry. What differs - the drivers, the operational series, the KPIs, the bridge dimensions, the seasonality, the challenge questions - lives in an industry pack, written with people who run that industry, never from a search. An account is declared on a pack; a business the packs do not yet cover runs on the generic pack, which works from the ledger alone.
On your phone?
Yes. Once you are signed in, the header offers to install the app on your home screen; it opens straight to your runs, without an app store. The pack is one file, so it forwards to a board member as a link that opens in any browser.
